TV’s Bloopers & Practical Jokes Promo Spot
Here’s a promotional spot for an episode of NBC’s TV’s Bloopers & Practical Jokes, from the 1984-1985 season. The episode featured, among others, bloopers involving the cast of Santa Barbara, Caren Kaye from It’s Your Move and Steve Kanaly from Dallas. You can see two more of these promo spots in the Outtakes, Bloopers and Goofs article.

This was part of a Monday night “promo block” [Danny Dark, announcer]- the unseen second portion dealt with the next “NBC MONDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES” presentation, whatever it was (probably a “splashy” or “serious” made-for-TV flick, usually top heavy with one or more “supporting players” from various NBC series). If there’s one thing NBC programmer Brandon Tartikoff learned from Fred Silverman, it was to promote the hell out of your schedule by getting the stars and supporting cast from the network’s shows involved with your OTHER series at the same time {i.e. Caren Kaye from the doomed “IT’S YOUR MOVE”, and “bloopers” from the network’s daytime “SANTA BARBARA” and Richard Mulligan on “BLOOPERS”}. I watched the show every week, and enjoyed it…but now I see how much of a “promotional vehicle” it really was…
