NBC “Talking Head” Promo Spots 1984-1985

During the 1984-1985 season, NBC’s image campaign used the slogan “Let’s All Be There,” and to help promote its schedule the network had its stars record very short bumpers plugging their shows. Here’s a mix of seven of these bumpers for shows broadcast on Friday and Saturday. Although the whole thing runs less than ten seconds, it features Gary Coleman (Diff’rent Strokes), Jean and Liz Sagal (Double Trouble), Fred Dryer and Stepfanie Kramer (Hunter) and Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas (Miami Vice).

Just imagine how these “talking head” promos were filmed. Stick a camera in front of an actor or actress and have him or her say “Next!” or “Be there!” or “Saturday!” time and time again. Rinse and repeat. How fulfilling.
