DVD Tuesday: The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp

The big release on DVD today is the complete first season of The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp. The half-hour series, starring Hugh O’Brian, ran from 1955 to 1961 on ABC and helped usher in the television western craze of the 1950s and 1960s. Two “best of” collections are already available on DVD: a 26-episode set from Rhino in 2005 (The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp – From Ellsworth to Tombstone) and a 15-episode set from Timeless Media Group in 2007 (Wyatt Earp: The Life And Legend Of Wyatt Earp). What Falcon Picture Group has released today for the first time are all 33 episodes from the 1955-156 season.

Also coming out today are seasons of several classic shows: Dallas: The Complete Eleventh Season, Hawaii Five-O: Sixth Season and Rhoda: Season One. Be warned, however, that many of the Rhoda episodes are reportedly edited syndicated versions. See this review at Sitcoms Online for details.
