Farrah Fawcett (1947-2009)

Years ago I used to comment fairly regularly on the deaths of actors and actresses famous for their work in television. But it got to the point where it was actually depressing. I didn’t mention Ed McMahon’s passing earlier this week, for example. He was just as much a television icon as Farrah Fawcett, who passed away earlier today at the age of 62 after battling cancer for several years.

I think it’s fair to say that the most iconic image of Farrah has to be that red bathing suit poster. Then, perhaps, posing with Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith for Charlie’s Angels. Here’s her commercial for Ultra Brite from the 1970s:

Farrah appeared in DOZENS of TV commercials while awaiting that “big break” every actress aspires to have in Hollywood…personally, I’d like to see that 1971 “INSIDE O.U.T.” pilot she did with Bill Daily, again. Last time I saw it was on “THE CBS LATE MOVIE” in the ’80s. She had a face that cameras and everybody who saw her ADORED…
