Here’s a promotional spot for the first episode of Scarecrow and Mrs. King starring Bruce Boxleitner and Kate Jackson. The CBS drama was about a secret agent (Scarecrow) and a divorced mother of two (Mrs. King) who team up to take on all sorts of characters with villainous plots. It premiered on Monday, October 3rd, 1983.

  1. Marc Elliot is the CBS announcer for this promo.
The rousing theme music (by Arthur B. Rubinstein) was great, and the series deserved to last at least four seasons [it faltered when CBS moved it to Fridays in the fall of ’86, so there was no chance for a fifth]. This was certainly better than Bruce Boxleitner’s previous series for Warner Bros./CBS, their “Indiana Jones” knockoff “BRING ‘EM BACK ALIVE” (1982-’83).

  2. I loved this show because it was almost as if Kate Jackson were spoof her old Charlie’s Angels persona…besides all the networks had a show like this NBC had Remington Steele and ABC had Moonlighting (which I really believe was a take off of this show)

  3. Scarecrow and Mrs. King is my favorite televison show of all time. Nothing could beat the chemistry between Kate Jackson and Bruce Boxleitner. It was actually Kate’s discovery of breast cancer that kept the show from a fifth season. What I don’t understand is with all the other 80’s television shows on DVD why Scarecrow and Mrs. King is not?

  4. Agreed Anne! My favorite show of all time as well. With some of the junk coming out on DVD, I’m baffled as to why it hasn’t been released.
