In late December of 2008, a website was launched to help promote a campaign to bring I’m Dickens, He’s Fenster to DVD, lead by its creator, Leonard Stern. Earlier this week TVShowsOnDVD.com posted a press release announcing that interviews with both Stern and director Norman Abbott were filmed last year. Here’s the pertinent paragraph from the press release:
On-camera interviews with I’m Dickens, He’s Fenster creator Leonard Stern (Get Smart, The Honeymooners) and director Norman Abbott (Leave it to Beaver, The Munsters) will be featured on a special I’m Dickens, He’s Fenster tribute DVD to be released later this year, honoring the rarely-seen brilliantly reviewed comedy TV series that aired on the ABC television network from 1962-63. These interviews, and other material, will be in addition to the episode content, which is still in the planning stages (and will be announced once it’s finalized). The episodes that will be featured on this special tribute DVD are the complete versions of each (twenty-six minutes long), and have been pristinely remastered.
Note the phrase “tribute DVD,” which could suggest that this will not be a complete series release. That is total conjecture on my part, and the press release states that “episode content” is “still in the planning stages.” We will just have to wait until the official announcement is made
