DVD Tuesday: Nothing of Interest

Every Tuesday I take a look at obscure and/or classic television programs, specials, miniseries or made-for-TV movies being released on DVD. For the record I consider anything broadcast prior to 1980 to be classic or else there wouldn’t be much to discuss. The releases referred to in these posts are encoded for Region 1 use in the United States and Canada.

There’s nothing of interest to fans of classic/obscure television out today on DVD. E1 Entertainment and The Archive of American Television were supposed to release The Barbara Stanwyck Show – Volume 2 but according to Amazon.com and E1’s website, the release has been pushed back by a few weeks and will hit stores on June 1st.

On an unrelated note, Mill Creek Entertainment is reissuing Greatest American Hero: The Complete Series as well as Greatest American Hero: Season One. Anchor Bay previously released all three seasons in 2005 and the complete series in a special collector’s tin in 2006. Those versions appear to be easily available but the Mill Creek releases are much cheaper. You can get the complete series for under $30, about the price of one of the Anchor Bay seasons and Amazon.com has the first season discounted to just $6.99 at the moment.

Admittedly, The Greatest American Hero premiered after my 1980 cut-off, but it’s such a fun show I thought I’d write about it anyway.
