Here’s the schedule for station WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the week starting Sunday, March 21st, 1948, straight from the weekly television listings printed in The Milwaukee Journal [1]. The station was off the air on Mondays and Tuesdays. A new program, officially called 1948 Baseball Preview with Stan Baumgartner, was broadcast on Wednesday and Friday from 8-8:15PM. It would bring viewers a look at spring training for the Boston Braves, the New York Yankees, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Detroit Tigers, the Washington Senators, the Boston Red Sox, the Philadelphia Athletics and the Cincinnati Reds. Stan Baumgartner, a former pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Athletics, would direct each installment, the last of which was planned for Sunday, April 18th as an overall preview of the upcoming season [2].

WTMJ-TV also aired its first religious programs during the week. The first, “Good Friday, 1948,” featured Father J.F. Orford and Reverend Wallace Robertson discussing Good Friday while the second, “Steps to Glory,” saw the the Milwaukee Players, directed by Robert E.
