Television Broadcasts on December 7th, 1941

December 7th, 2016 Update: Please read my essay “A Forgotten Milestone: Television and Pearl Harbor” for a revised and updated look at how TV covered the attack on Pearl Harbor.

For the past two years I’ve written about how television responded to the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941 (today is the 69th anniversary of that attack) but unfortunately this year I don’t have anything new to add to the post I wrote last year.

I’m hopeful that one day someone will be able to shed more light on the way stations WNBT and WCBW in New York City reported about the attack. I’m even more interested in learning about how other stations that were in operation in December 1941 responded. I’m sure the information is out there somewhere.

Earlier this year, Frances Buss, who helped cover the attack for WCBW, passed away at the age of 92.
