Every Tuesday I take a look at obscure and/or classic television programs, specials, miniseries or made-for-TV movies being released on DVD. For the record I consider anything broadcast prior to 1980 to be classic or else there wouldn’t be much to discuss. The releases referred to in these posts are encoded for Region 1 use in the United States and Canada.
It’s the first Tuesday of the month and that means a slew of new releases. But the only releases of interest to fans of classic television out today are on Blu-ray rather than DVD. Image Entertainment is releasing two new The Twilight Zone sets today: The Twilight Zone – The Complete Series and The Twilight Zone – Fan Favorites. All five seasons of the series are available on Blu-ray already and as far as I can tell this complete series set does not include any new bonus features. As for the fan favorites set, according to TVShowsOnDVD.com it contains the following 19 episodes:
- Night of the Meek
- The Invaders
- Nothing in the Dark
- Time Enough at Last
- Nightmare at 20,000 Feet
- The Monsters are Due on Maple Street
- The Odyssey of Flight 33
- Steel
- A Game of Pool
- Walking Distance
- Kick the Can
- Mr. Dingle the Strong
- Two
- A Passage for Trumpet
- The Four of Us are Dying
- Long Distance Call
- I Sing the Body Electric
- The Lonely
- Probe 7 – Over and Out
A similar set was released on DVD back in 2010.
