DVD Tuesday: Mr. Lucky; Gunsmoke; Columbo

Every Tuesday I take a look at obscure and/or classic television programs, specials, miniseries or made-for-TV movies being released on DVD or Blu-ray. For the record I consider anything broadcast prior to 1980 to be classic or else there wouldn’t be much to discuss. The releases referred to in these posts are encoded for Region 1 use in the United States and Canada.

Somehow, the news that Mr. Lucky would be coming to DVD completely slipped under my radar. Today, Timeless Media Group is releasing Mr. Lucky – The Complete Series, a 4-disc set containing all 34 episodes of the half-hour series starring John Vivyan and Ross Martin that aired on CBS during the 1959-1960 season. According to the Timeless Media Group website, the set also contains a CD, perhaps with Henry Mancini’s music?

You can view a trailer for the set at YouTube and you can read my article on Mr. Lucky here.

Also out today, from Paramount Home Video, is Gunsmoke – The Sixth Season, Volume 2, which includes the final 18 episodes from the 1960-1961 season. Finally, from Universal Home Video, comes Columbo – The Complete Series, a massive 34-disc set containing all 69 episodes and 24 made-for-TV movies.
