W2XBS Schedule, February 1941

NBC’s experimental station W2XBS in New York City went off the air for several months in mid-1940 for technical reasons. It returned in October 1940 but The New York Times did not resume publishing television listings until February 1941. And when the paper did start publishing listings again, they were sporadic, perhaps because the station was only on the air sporadically. Here are all the listings from February 1941:

    1. Regarding Test Patterns, the first proper regularly televised “Test Card” on the BBC was Test Card C which first appeared on British TV screens from January 1948 until May 1964, when Test Card D began to be broadcast.

  1. “Numbered Woman” was a 1938 Monogram “quickie”, also co-starring Mayo Methot {Mrs. Humphrey Bogart at the time}.
