Sugarfoot Promotional Spot

Here’s a promotional spot for ABC’s Sugarfoot, a western starring Will Hutchins that aired from 1957 to 1961. During its first three seasons, the series alternated every other week while in its final season it was seen every three weeks.

I believe this spot features footage from the October 13th, 1959 episode “MacBrewster the Bold,” which aired during the third season. Note the last five seconds or so where local station identification would be placed.

  1. Holy Mayberry! It appears that the sweet li’l ole gun-toting lady was none other than Frances Bavier, before she went on to greater fame as Aunt Bee!

  2. This aired in the summer of 1960 [I saw it on a network print of “ROCKY AND HIS FRIENDS”]. Hank Simms is the announcer.
Suggested live announcer tag at 0:55- “See ‘SUGARFOOT’ tonight, over most of these ABC stations.”

    1. Or if broadcast on a local station, there would be a local tag (the example here: ABC’s New York flagship station): “See ‘Sugarfoot’ tonight at 7:30 on WABC-TV, Channel 7”
