The Month in Home Media is a monthly column highlighting short-lived or rare television series, specials, miniseries or made-for-TV movies released on DVD or Blu-ray during the previous month, as well as recent additions to streaming services like Warner Archive Instant. The releases discussed in this column are encoded for Region 1 use in the United States and Canada. The Month in Home Media is published on the first Thursday of each month.
January 2014 was an incredibly slow month for short-lived television in home media, with only two DVD releases, little news and no streaming additions.

The Jimmy Stewart Show (DVD, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment)
This NBC sitcom, which ran for 24 episodes during the 1971-1972 season, has been available via Warner Archive Instant since May 2013. For those who prefer DVD to n relying on streaming sites, this is good. Perhaps other Warner Archive Instant shows will make the transition to DVD. Manufacture-on-demand.

Four more episodes of this half-hour CBS series starring Reed Hadley, which aired from March 1954 to June 1955. Manufacture-on-demand.
