Here’s a fall preview for NBC’s short-lived Rosetti and Ryan, a legal drama starring Tony Roberts and Squire Fridell. It ran for just six episodes during the 1977-1978 season. This preview is from the network’s “NBC For 77” fall preview special, hosted by Tony Roberts.

  1. When I watch many of these 70’s/80’s previews, I always put them in context with when they were produced, but ones like this still floor me (swinging, hip lawyers!), as in WTF? Can’t see how they thought this would fly.

Different era ( early 90’s), and unsold, but I always point to ‘Poochinski’ as my go-to title to show people how most any idea can be green-lighted. ;)

    1. Leonard Stern (the executive producer of Rosetti and Ryan) was responsible for a lot of successful shows including Get Smart and McMillan & Wife. Everyone from Aaron Spelling to Stephen Cannell had shows that didn’t catch on with the viewing public.

  2. Rosetti & Ryan was actually on NBC during the 1977-78 season. Tony Roberts & Squire Fridell appeared on the cover of TV Guide for the week of Oct. 1-7, 1977. I still remember the promo for this series where Squire Fridell explained that his name actually was Squire Frankin Fridell, and he appeared yearly for several years in December as a co-host of the “Toyotathon” promotional commercials.

  3. This series was remade more than once through the years with the latest being “FRANKLIN AND BASH.” To a tee.
