getTV Launching New Classic TV Block with The Thin Man

Diginet getTV is launching a new “Get Lost in TV” block on Wednesday nights that be devoted to a single classic TV series each month. Kicking things off in March is the 1957-1959 NBC series The Thin Man starring Peter Lawford and Phyllis Kirk.

Five episodes will air each Wednesday starting March 2nd, in original broadcast order, for a total of 25 episodes throughout the month. A total of 72 episodes of The Thin Man were produced. Future “Get Lost in TV” installments will feature The Lieutenant (NBC, 1963-1964) and The Jimmy Stewart Show (NBC, 1971-1972).

The Thin Man was based on Dashiell Hammett’s 1933 novel The Thin Man, which introduced the characters of Nick and Nora Charles. Six films starring William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora were produced between 1934 and 1947, followed by the TV series a decade later. I believe only two episodes of the series have been officially released on DVD. It probably hasn’t been seen on TV since the 1980s.

getTV currently airs a variety show block on Mondays that includes The Judy Garland Show, The Merv Griffin Show, and a mix of specials and episodes from various variety shows. The diginet also airs a western block on Saturdays featuring The Tall Man, Whispering Smith, A Man Called Shenandoah, Cimarron City, Laredo, Hondo, and Nichols.

  1. It would be amazing if these were internet-streamable! Or available to download. I don’t have a TV, sadly!
