WCBW Schedule, Week of December 21st, 1941

Here’s the schedule for WCBW, the CBS station in New York City, for the week starting Sunday, December 21st, 1941, straight from daily television listings printed in The New York Times. As always, the station was off the air on Sunday.

There were some big changes to the WCBW schedule this week. Boys in the Back Room was replaced on Monday by a half-hour War Backgrounds program airing at 2:45PM. A news summary was added at the end of the daily Children’s Story program at 3:15PM. Another news summary was added to the end of each broadcast day, which meant cutting other programs back by five minutes.

Impacted were Men at Work, which went from an hour to 55 minutes; Bob Edge’s sports programs on Tuesday and Friday; the Country Dance program on Wednesday; the quiz show on Thursday; and Saturday’s films.

This week’s Men at Work featured a pair of dancers, a guitarist, singers, and the Victor Trio. No topic was given for Wednesday’s Table Talk with Helen Sioussat.

On Christmas Day, WCBW pre-empted its Thursday afternoon lineup to air a 90-minute Christmas party for the Police and Fire Department Toy Campaign.
