Here’s incomplete audio from a promotional spot urging viewers to watch CBS News on Election Night 1968:
This particular spot aired right after the closing credits to The Jackie Gleason Show on Saturday, November 2nd, 1968. Election Night came there days later on Tuesday, November 5th.
Here’s a transcript:
Tuesday November 5th is Election Day. You’re entitled to two votes. When you go to the polls the choice is yours. When it comes to viewing the results the choice is still yours. But may I recommend broadcasting’s top news team?

You failed to identify the VO, but it is clearly Fred MacMurray, who at that time starred on “My 3 Sons”, which would be on “next on most of these CBS stations”.
What did you mean by “failed”? (I don’t believe the author of the article was obligated to “identify the VO” for the article)
He didn’t have to identify it, all I said was it was MacMurray. I wasn’t making a judgement, just stating a fact. If you took offense, it was not intentional.
Yeah, that’s definitely Fred MacMurray.
Yes, and that comment was based on the fact that “My 3 Sons” ran after “Jackie Gleason” unless your local affiliate [a] chose to preempt it for local programming, [b]ran Gleason on tape delay or [c] was a small market station with multiple affiliations.
I presume the part of the spot cut-off and not heard in this clip was “–S, Tuesday night starting at 7:30 P.M. Eastern 6:30 Central, 4:30 Pacific”.
Sounds like Harry Kramer at the end, after Fred MacMurray.
