WNBT Schedule, Week of June 8th, 1947

Here’s the schedule for WNBT (NBC’s flagship TV station in New York City) for the week starting Sunday, June 8th, 1947. The New York Times published daily listings for television stations in the city, including WNBT, alongside its comprehensive radio listings.

WNBT scheduled five baseball games this week, down from six the week before. Other than baseball, the big news was the premiere of game show Party Line on Sunday (June 8th). Hosted by Bert Parks, the show allowed viewers to call in and answer questions. It ran until August 31st, 1947.

An afternoon baseball game kicked off the Monday (June 9th) lineup. That evening, WNBT aired two movies: Men of the Plains from 1936 starring Rex Bell and A Night for Crime from 1943 starring Glenda Farrell.

On Tuesday (June 10th), WNBT offered film shorts and another baseball game. The Wednesday (June 11th) lineup consisted of baseball in the afternoon plus Kraft Television Theatre and In the Kelvinator Kitchen in the evening.

The baseball game on Thursday (June 12th) was scheduled for 9:10PM, a rare late-evening broadcast. Earlier, WNBT offered its regular lineup of Juvenile Jury, The Wife Saver, and You Are an Artist.

After five straight days, WNBT’s Friday (June 13th) lineup lacked a baseball game. In the afternoon, the station aired Swift Home Service Club and film shorts. That evening, viewers could tune in and enjoy Campus Hoopla, The World in Your Home, and boxing.

WNBT was off the air on Saturday (June 14th).

  1. The June 12th game between the Giants and the Yankees must have been an exhibition game, since there was no regular-season interleague play until 1997.
