WNBT Schedule, Week of July 20th, 1947

Here’s the schedule for WNBT (NBC’s flagship TV station in New York City) for the week starting Sunday, July 20th, 1947. The New York Times published daily listings for television stations in the city, including WNBT, alongside its comprehensive radio listings.

The only baseball game scheduled this week saw the New York Giants face the Cincinnati Reds at 2PM on Sunday (July 20th). Ringside with Tex and Jinx and Party Line aired as usual from 8-8:50PM. The New York Times listed Sunday Supper Club at 9PM. See this post for more information about the revolving set of four different shows sponsored by Borden on Sundays during the summer of 1947.

On Monday (July 21st), WNBT aired the 1936 film Rainbow on the River starring Bobby Breen at 8:10PM. The New York Times called it It Happened in Orleans; the film is sometimes known as It Happened in New Orleans. At 9:20PM, the station broadcast horse trotting or harness races from Long Island.

There were no programs scheduled for Tuesday (July 22nd). The Wednesday (July 23rd) lineup consisted of Kraft Television Theatre and In the Kelvinator Kitchen.

Russell Janne was the guest on Author Meets the Critics at 8PM on Thursday (July 24th). At 8:30PM, something called Friend of the Family aired. WNBT’s irregularly scheduled In Town Today returned on Friday (July 25th) and highlighted New York’s Sokol gymnastics organization.

The tennis matches on Saturday (July 26th) afternoon were likely relayed from WNBW, the NBC station in Washington, D.C.
