WNBT Schedule, Week of September 14th, 1947

Here’s the schedule for WNBT (NBC’s flagship TV station in New York City) for the week starting Sunday, September 14th, 1947. The New York Times published daily listings for television stations in the city, including WNBT, alongside its comprehensive radio listings.

WNBT’s broadcast week began with the finals of the National Tennis Matches, broadcast during the afternoon on Sunday (September 14th). That evening, another episode of NBC Television Theatre aired at 8PM ET.

On Monday (September 15th), viewers could watch news, film shorts, and trotting races. WNBT broadcast the opening of the second session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday (September 16th) at 11AM ET.

Although Kraft Television Theatre is not included in the listings for Wednesday (September 17th), I’m almost positive an episode (“Murder Without Crime”) did air on that day. Learn why by reading my status guide for the first season of Kraft Television Theatre.

A variety program aired in place of Author Meets the Critics on Thursday (September 18th).

On Friday (September 19th), hat designer Eve Tarter joined Tex and Jinx as one of the guests on Swift Home Service Club. Later that evening, a United Nations film aired on The World in Your Home.

The New York Giants faced the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday (September 20th) during an afternoon baseball game.

    1. I accidentally published an incomplete version of this post. The “Sandlot Baseball Game” Andrew refers to aired on Wednesday, August 13th, 1947. See that week’s WNBT schedule here.

    2. I very much thank you for mentioning this article. I have been expanding my research and have spoken with several of the young men who played in that game including Dick Groat, Billy Harrell, and Rudy Regalado, Hy Cohen, and Don Ferrarese..
