TV Guide – Behind the Scenes of the 1964-1965 Season
    May 8th, 1965 – “Hollywood on Wheels”

This picture feature wasn’t a look behind the scenes of a specific television show but rather an interesting peek at how bicycles are used by television actors.

On the huge Hollywood lots, some office workers, production-crew members and messengers save wear and tear on shoe leather by using bikes when they travel from far-flung parking lots to their offices, or from sets to commissaries for lunch, or to and from administrative offices. And some actors, too, have taken up bicycle riding–for exercise (Fess Parker), to relieve the tedium of waiting around to perform (Richard Chamberlain) or just to get a good lunch (Ray Walston and Bill Bixby pedal from Desilu to Paramount at noontime because they prefer the chow at Paramount).

And not a single one of them ever wore a helmet.
