The Immortal, The Magician and More Coming to DVD

Back in May, news broke that Visual Entertainment, Inc. (VEI) had licensed a number of television shows from CBS DVD and would be releasing shows that were stalled on DVD as well as others that would be coming to DVD for the very first time. Among the titles in that first announcement were Angie, Petrocelli, Martial Law, Matt Houston, Special Unit 2, and Hotel.

Today, TVShowsOnDVD.com posted 11 additional announcements for the second wave of VEI/CBS releases. Many of them are one season wonders, including The Immortal and The Magician from the 1970s and Level 9 and Jake 2.0 from the 2000s.

Here’s the full list:

The Immortal (ABC, 1970-1971)
Longstreet (ABC, 1971-1972)
The Magician (NBC, 1973-1974)
Nero Wolfe (NBC, 1981)
Super Force (Syndicated, 1990-1992)
Evening Shade (CBS, 1990-1994)
The Untouchables (Syndicated, 1993-1994)
Viper (NBC/Syndicated, 1994-1999)
Promised Land (CBS, 1996-1999)
Level 9 (UPN, 2000-2001)
Jake 2.0 (UPN, 2003-2004)

No release dates or details are available. VEI has all of the shows listed on its Coming Soon page alongside several shows from the May announcement that haven’t been released yet either. Those shows were said to be coming out in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2015 which suggests these new shows may not be available until next year.

Personally, I’m most excited about The Immortal, which is a show I’ve long wanted the opportunity to see. I watched and enjoyed Jake 2.0 when it originally aired so I might pick it up on DVD as well. I don’t believe I’ve seen the four episodes that UPN didn’t show. I have a vague memory of a few episodes being offered on DVD as part of a promotion/giveaway. Does that sound familiar to anyone else?

I also watched Level 9 (I was a much bigger fan of Freedom, however) and managed to watch the unaired episodes when they aired on Syfy maybe ten years ago. I doubt I’ll be buying it on DVD, however, but I’m glad it’s coming out.
