About Us
Television Obscurities welcomes all input regarding our mission and our website. Feel free to
contact us with any comments or suggestions.
Site History
The early history of
Television Obscurities dates back to the late 1990s and encompasses severalattempts to create a website dedicated to forgotten television programs. Originally, the website was entitled "Television That Time Forgot" and was simply a listing of forgotten television programs with individual pages for various shows.
The original version of
Television Obscurities was launched in late November/early December of 2002 with six main features and a few additional bits and pieces. The website was relaunched on June 11th, 2003 and has been online ever since. On January 1st, 2004, we moved the site from a freebie host to its own domain.
In January of 2006, the site was moved to a new webhost, we registered a secondary domain (www.tvobscurities.org), and a major overhaul was undertaken, resulting in the new
Television Obscurities thousands of viewers enjoy today.
Mission Statement
We are dedicated to keeping obscure TV from fading away forever. To achieve that end we independently maintain a collection of rare and forgotten television programs and specials, spanning decades. This website presents audio and video files, together with images and well-researched summaries, from shows that have aired only once during their initial runs.
We welcome the contributions culled from the memories of television fans who watched obscure shows when they first ran, these memories help to flesh out our features. And, perhaps most importantly, we're avidly building a community based on forgotten and rare television as well as aspects of famous shows that the world has forgotten.
