WNBT Schedule, Week of January 19th, 1947

Here’s the schedule for WNBT, the NBC station in New York City, for the week starting Sunday, January 19th, 1947. The New York Times published daily listings for television stations in the city, including WNBT, alongside its comprehensive radio listings.

WNBT presented a live drama called “Thinking Aloud” on Sunday, January 19th. Carol Goodner and Branwell Fletcher starred. It aired as part of an irregularly-scheduled series of live dramas, sometimes referred to as NBC Television Theater. Debuting in April 1945, the series gained a sponsor (Kraft), a new name (Kraft Television Theatre), and a new day (Wednesday) in May 1947.

The feature film on Monday, January 20th was West of Texas from 1943. According to the Internet Movie Database, it starred Dave O’Brien and not Dan O’Brien, which is what appears in the TV listing for that day.

The New York Times once again published no listings for Tuesday or Wednesday. A new program debuted on Thursday, January 23rd: a 15-minute mix of ski news and film shorts. There were changes on Friday, January 24th. Gone was Let’s Rhumba, replaced by more ski news and film shorts.

Another indoor polo match aired on Saturday, January 25th, followed by another unidentified feature film.
