WNBT Schedule, Week of October 19th, 1947

Here’s the schedule for WNBT (NBC’s flagship TV station in New York City) for the week starting Sunday, October 19th, 1947. The New York Times published daily listings for television stations in the city, including WNBT, alongside its comprehensive radio listings.

An afternoon football game on Sunday (October 19th) between the New York Giants and the Boston Yanks kicked off WNBT’s schedule this week. Later that night were installments of Author Meets the Critics and NBC Television Theatre.

On Monday (October 20th), WNBT began broadcasting coverage of the sixteenth New York Herald-Tribune Forum, held at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Manhattan. Additional live broadcasts were aired on Tuesday (October 21st) and Wednesday (October 22nd). Speakers at the three day forum included Secretary of Defense James Forrestal, Atomic Energy Commission chairman David E. Lilienthal, and Elizabeth Gray Vining (tutor to the Crown Prince of Japan).

Another installment of Seven Arts Quiz aired on Thursday (October 23rd), followed by a film called Downtown Quarterback. Also airing Thursday were Musical Merry-Go-Round, You Are an Artist, and a program called “Capital Citizen.”

On Friday (October 24th), Edward Wagner was the guest on Swift Home Service Club. That evening, John R. Saunders was the guest on In Town Today. At 10PM ET, all three stations in New York City carried an address by President Truman regarding a special session of Congress.
