UCLA Film & Television Archive to Stream “The Screaming Skull” with David McCallum on October 22

The UCLA Film & Television Archive continues its Archive Television Treasures series at 7PM ET/4PM PT on October 22nd when the Virtual Screening Room streams “The Classic Ghosts: The Screaming Skull”.

Based on a story by F. Marion Crawford, “The Screaming Skull” stars Vincent Gardenia and Carrie Nye with special guest star David McCallum. It aired on February 14th, 1973 as an installment of ABC’s Wide World of Entertainment, the umbrella title for ABC’s late-night programming block between January 1973 and January 1976.

Broadcast from 11:30PM-1AM ET, ABC’s Wide World of Entertainment offered late-night viewers an assortment of concerts, made-for-TV movies, comedy specials, talk shows hosted by Dick Cavett and Jack Paar, and more. ABC’s Wide World of Entertainment also included a series of five videotaped horror stories, aired under the title The Classic Ghosts, one of which was “The Screaming Skull.”

  1. keep in mind;; the WILD WORLD OF ENTERTAINMENT SHOE HORNED INTO FRIDAY NITES ON ABC EXCLUSIVELY HAD A LIVE FROM DISNEYLAND EPISODE ;;;; that the archivist DAVID SMITH RIP failed to touch during his entire career.. I STILL HAVE HIS HAND TYPD NOTE FROM BURBANK ,,,,,,, SOON AFTER THE INITIATION OF THE DISNEY CHANNEL HERE IN 1984,,,,,,you tube has turned up pretty much the entire series videotaped like th old soaps………

  2. Not noted here was the fact that Carrie Nye, the top-billed actress here, was Mrs. Dick Cavett.
    Talk about your irony …
