Every Tuesday I take a look at obscure and/or classic television programs, specials, miniseries or made-for-TV movies being released on DVD or Blu-ray. For the record I consider anything broadcast prior to 1980 to be classic or else there wouldn’t be much to discuss. The releases referred to in these posts are encoded for Region 1 use in the United States and Canada.
Out today from CBS DVD/Paramount Home Entertainment is the fourth and final season of The Untouchables, split across two half-season sets: Volume 1 includes the first 14 episodes from the 1962-1963 season with the remaining 16 on Volume 2. Also out today, from Inception Media Group, is The Real McCoys – Complete Season #1. This is a re-release; the first four seasons of The Real McCoy (which ran for six seasons from 1957 to 1963) were originally released on DVD between 2007 and 2010 Falcon Picture Group. The final two seasons have yet to find their way to DVD. However, Inception plans to release a boxed set containing all six seasons of The Real McCoys in September. No word yet on whether Seasons Two-Four will be re-released or if Seasons Five-Six will be released individually for those who already own the first four seasons.
