Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. was a popular sitcom, ranking in the Top Five during four of its five seasons (only the third season failed to crack the Top Five but it still ranked tenth). A total of 150 episodes were broadcast between 1964 and 1969 before star Jim Nabors called it quits. Despite its long run, there was very little merchandise released connected to the show. A tie-in novel was published in 1965. There was a board game, a lunch box, and a soundtrack album. Fleer also released a set of trading cards. There were 65 cards in the set, each of which a caption on the front and a quotation on the back.
You can find the Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) registry page for the set here.
I have a number of these cards in my collection of TV memorabilia. I’ve scanned six of them:

Does anyone remember collecting this cards back in 1965? Did anyone actually trade them? Did they come with a stick of gum?
ALL trading cards came with a VERY thin stick of gum in the same wrapper at that time, ‘RG’.
