Here’s an index to television listings from 1940 for experimental New York City station W2XBS, originally published in The New York Times. The station was founded in 1928 by the Radio Corporation of America and in April 1939 began the first regularly scheduled (but still experimental) television broadcasts in the United States.
The station went off the air in August 1940 so that its channel allocation could be shifted and did not start broadcasting again until late October. For some reason, The New York Times did not resume publishing listings when the station returned to the air. TV listings were published in The New York Daily News beginning in November 1940.
