Thirty years ago today the final episode of M*A*S*H was aired on CBS. Odds are if you were old enough to stay up late that night (or if you were convincing enough to talk your parents into letting you stay up) you were watching as the members of the 4077th said goodbye. Over at MASH4077TV.com, I’ve posted a variety of TV news segments from January and February 1983 relating to the finale:
- CBS Evening News – Last Day of Filming
- WCBS-TV News at 11 – Last Day of Filming
- Independent Network News – Last Day of Filming
- NBC News Overnight – Last Day of Filming
- WNEW-TV’s 10 O’Clock News – Last Day of Filming
- WCBS-TV News at 5 – Day of Finale
- WCBS-TV News at 6 – Day of Finale
- WCBS-TV 2 on the Town – Day of Finale
Were you one of the 105 million viewers watching the finale thirty years ago? Did you attend a M*A*S*H Bash to celebrate the end of the series?
I was working at a small town hospital in food services and we decided to celebrate the finale by all dressing up as our favorite character from the show. I was Radar.
The CBS station in my area, WWL-TV Channel 4, aired M*A*S*H‘s series pilot at 7PM (CST) that night, prior to CBS’ airing of the series finale, “Goodbye, Farewell And Amen.”
