New Essay About Television and Pearl Harbor

Today marks the 75th anniversary of the December 7th, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor that drew the United States into World War II. You can find the official website for National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day and the 75th anniversary here.

On December 7th for the past eight years, I’ve republished a post examining the role television played in reporting news of the attack. At least two TV stations, both in New York City, are known to have aired coverage. When I first wrote about TV and Pearl Harbor back in 2008, I had very little information to share. Over the years, I’ve gathered a few additional details, particularly about WCBW’s efforts.

This year, I decided to write a new essay about television and Pearl Harbor. It’s called “A Forgotten Milestone: Television and Pearl Harbor” and you can read it here. I still haven’t been able to determine whether additional TV stations outside of New York City covered the attack. My search continues.
