Coming to Television Obscurities in September

A bright new “season” starts this month at Television Obscurities. I’ve been hard at work over the past few months on a variety of projects that I’m excited to unveil over the next month. For the first time I can recall, I have almost an entire month’s worth of blog posts and columns completed and scheduled for publication. I’ve never been this far ahead before.

What does that mean? For one thing, I’ve been able to start working on a new article about Lucas Tanner (NBC, 1974-1975) that I hope to have finished before the end of the year.

Here’s what you can look forward to seeing in September:

TV Guide 365: 1964-1965

Starting September 19th, I’ll be posting daily prime time listings from the 1964-1965 season, drawn from the pages of TV Guide. Why 1964-1965? Well, I wanted to cover the 1969-1970 season but I don’t have the TV Guide issues from that season. I do have a complete collection of TV Guide issues from the 1964-1965 season and, as many will recall, five years ago I journeyed through those 52 issues from the 1964-1965 season on a weekly basis.

It was a popular feature and I love the idea of getting more use out of these issues. Look for a post previewing TV Guide 365: 1964-1965 next week.

Explore the first month of the 1989-1990 network TV season with five new installments of A Year in TV Guide: 1989 every Monday.

Beginning September 17th, I’ll be posting the weekly Nielsen Bottom 5 from the 1979-1980 season every Tuesday.

Throughout September, look for posts marking notable anniversaries for shows like Sons and Daughters (CBS, 1974) and The New People (ABC, 1969-1970).

September 3rd, 2019 Update: I’ll also be posting about this season’s network TV fall preview specials during September. And on September 23rd, look for my annual “Let’s Predict the First Cancellation” post asking readers to predict which new network TV show will be the first cancellation (or first ending) of the 2019-2020 season.
