June 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of television in Connecticut. To celebrate, each Friday this month I’ll share two or three local promotional spots, commercials, or other videos spotlighting Connecticut TV.
From the Television Obscurities YouTube channel, here’s a February 1986 PSA from Connecticut TV station WTXX-TV (Channel 20). The PSA urges parents to keep a list of what their children watch on TV, watch with them, and talk about what they see.
This PSA is akin to talking out of both sides of their mouth given WTXX aired uncut R-rated movies in the early to mid-1980s, which garnered coverage in the press.
