June 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of television in Connecticut. To celebrate, each Friday this month I’ll share two or three local promotional spots, commercials, or other videos spotlighting Connecticut TV.
From the Television Obscurities YouTube channel, here’s a commercial for a Star Trek convention held on April 15-16, 1989 at the Park Plaza Hotel in New Haven, Connecticut. Jonathan Frakes was the special guest. The convention featured dealers, contests, a preview of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, the “hilarious” Star Trek blooper reel, and more. This commercial aired on WTIC-TV (Channel 60) in Connecticut on Saturday, April 8, 1989.
