Actor Randy Boone, who starred in short-lived TV shows It’s a Man’s World (NBC, 1962-1963) and Cimarron Strip (CBS, 1967-1968), died last week (August 28) at the age of 83. From 1964 to 1966, Boone played Randy Benton on The Virginian, where he showcased his talent as a singer and guitarist.

It’s a Man’s World was Boone’s first acting job. He played Vern Hodges, a carefree guitarist. The cast also included Glenn Corbett, Ted Bessell, and Mike Burns. The critically acclaimed drama failed to attract an audience and went off the air after just 17 episodes.
