This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’ve finally put together a dedicated TV’s Lost & Found section here at Television Obscurities. You’ll find an expanded discussion of the difference between “lost” and “missing” television, brief descriptions of some of the more important television archives and museums in the United States, and my personal list of “most wanted” television programs. But the most valuable resource now available is an extensive article written by Robert Shagawat, who has spent the past six years researching the history of kinescope recordings and has compiled an exhaustive overview of surviving kinescopes from 1947 to 1949. I am thrilled to be able to make his article available because I think it is an important area of television history that deserves attention.
Here are links to the four new articles:
- The Difference Between “Lost” and “Missing” Television Programs
- Television Archives and Museums
- Earliest Surviving Recordings of Live Television
- Television Programs I’m Looking For
Feel free to leave comments here or at the articles themselves. Let me know if you come across any broken links.
