WNBT Schedule, Week of June 1st, 1947

Here’s the schedule for WNBT (NBC’s flagship TV station in New York City) for the week starting Sunday, June 1st, 1947. The New York Times published daily listings for television stations in the city, including WNBT, alongside its comprehensive radio listings.

Baseball dominated this week, with six games scheduled. The first, between the New York Giants and the Cincinnati Reds, was set for Sunday (June 1st). That evening, viewers could tune in to another installment of At Home with Tex and Jinx followed by something called “Musical Miniatures” and a film.

Monday (June 2nd) was the only day WNBT didn’t have a baseball game scheduled. It did offer viewers two opportunities to watch the Ken Maynard Rodeo Circus, at 2:30PM and again at 8:30PM.

Film shorts preceded the second scheduled baseball game on Tuesday (June 3rd). The Wednesday (June 4th) lineup consisted of another baseball game, Kraft Television Theatre, and In the Kelvinator Kitchen.

After an afternoon baseball game on Thursday (June 5th) came the regular evening lineup: Television Newsreel, Juvenile Jury, The Wife Saver, and You Are an Artist.

WNBT had a lot to offer viewers on Friday (June 6th). In the afternoon, the station broadcast Swift Home Service Club and yet another baseball game. Then came Campus Hoopla at 8PM, followed by something called Tom Scott’s American Song at 8:20PM. At 8:45PM, In Town Today marked the third anniversary of D-Day by interviewing Robert Fossurier, mayor of Deauville, Normandy.

Finally, on Saturday (June 7th), came the sixth scheduled baseball game, for viewers who simply couldn’t get enough of America’s past time. The afternoon game saw the Giants face the St. Louis again.
