April 2019: The Month in Home Media

The Month in Home Media highlights short-lived or rare TV shows released on DVD or Blu-ray in the United States during the previous month.

April was another quiet month. VCI Entertainment released more episodes of I Married Joan (NBC, 1952-1955) on DVD. There were also four new public domain releases from Alpha Video.

DVD/Blu-ray Releases

My Hero, Volume 6 [Alpha Video]
U.S. Marshal, Volume 4 [Alpha Video]
Lost TV Mystery Classics, Volume 2 [Alpha Video]*

*Contains single episodes from four different mystery TV shows: The Visitor (the syndicated title for NBC’s 1952-1953 medical anthology The Doctor), The Cases of Eddie Drake (DuMont, 1952), The Files of Jeffrey Jones (Syndicated, 1954-1955), and The Telltale Clue (CBS, 1954).

VCI Entertainment will release a second DVD set containing 10 episodes of Waterfront (Syndicated, 1954-1955) on DVD on June 11th, more than four years after the company released its first volume of Waterfront episodes.

CBS/Paramount plans to re-release the first (and only) season of Swingtown (CBS, 2008) on June 18th. An earlier DVD release from 2008 is long out-of-print (TV Shows on DVD/Facebook).
