Here’s a promotional spot for the CBS line-up on Tuesday, September 19th, 1978. At 8PM was the time slot premiere of The Paper Chase, a new drama based on the 1973 film of the same name (which itself was based on John Jay Osborn, Jr.’s 1970 novel). The pilot episode of the series was given a special sneak preview on Saturday, September 9th from 8-9PM before debuting in its regular Tuesday time slot two weeks later.
Following The Paper Chase at 9PM was The CBS Tuesday Night Movies, which this week featured the 1976 Western comedy The Shootist, John Wayne’s final film role.
