April 2018: The Month in Home Media

The Month in Home Media highlights short-lived or rare TV shows released on DVD or Blu-ray in the United States during the previous month.

Short-lived adventure drama Lucan (ABC, 1977-1978) came out on DVD in April 2018. Saturday morning cartoon Mighty Orbots (ABC, 1984) also came out on DVD last month. And Alpha Video release four new titles, including new volumes of Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans and Studio One.

Highlight of the Month: Lucan

Lucan stars Kevin Brophy as a young man raised by wolves searching for clues to his identity. A pilot telefilm aired on ABC in May 1977. As a “weekly” series, it ran sporadically for 11 episodes between September 1977 and December 1978. The 3-disc set from Warner Archive includes the pilot.

One season wonder A Man Called Shenandoah (ABC, 1965-1966) is coming to DVD on May 8th, courtesy of Warner Archive. The half-hour Western stars Robert Horton as an amnesiac traveling the Old West, hoping to discover who he is.

VEI will release short-lived drama Level 9 (UPN, 2000-2001) on DVD for the first time on May 11th.
